first leg...

well, we are off ... officially! man, i am not sure if i am more relieved or excited to be going. the last week has been FULL of finishing up enough stuff to get me by for an extended time out of the country. usually i am so excited to settle into my airplane seat, put on my earphones and go straight to sleep. usually, i can sleep from take off to landing... but not this time! sitting by quincy ensured that myself, nor the 6 passenger radius around us got to nod off even for a moment!! i did pull an all-nighter finishing all the laundry, middle-of-the-night walmart run and creating a travel journal and travel jornal kit for the road. i feel like i all the sudden left everything to the last minute. but i am sure that all the previous minutes were taken. to top the 'preparations' off, i got hit with a mean COLD that got me early-2-bed. (i am talking 9pm). i don't have much of a voice...but after not getting out of bed all day sunday, i am feeling much better. our original reservations had us leaving at 4:30pm. recent changes in scheduling moved our departure to 1:05pm. for a girl that reserved packing her entire family for such a trip to the morning of, it was quite a GLITCH.
so, armed with SNACKS, books, word puzzles, cards, coloring books, MOVIES GALORE and a few surprises up mom's sleeve... we conqured the 3 hour flight to atlanta. we stay the night here and embark early tomorrorw on our 21 hour direct flight to johannesburg.
frightening!
i hope to keep this posted during our stay! so we'll see how the internet connectivity etc. goes.
