this morning when i woke up... (and same thing yesterday)... i was so amazed at how beautiful it was looking out the window. it really is the best time of year here. the desert is blooming, the air is cool and crisp and the sun is so radiant... lights up everything. and all i can do is look at it, because i am too exhausted to get up and take advantage of it! so lame! i got to thinking about morning people today. you know these types... they are up at 5 am, writing you emails... chipper as can be! what is that? how is that possible? and yet.. i feel this little tingle of jealousy. for how happy, and energetic they are in the morning. because, quite frankly, i am a SLUG. (and usually grouchy as well!)
so here is my idea. next week, i am going to TRY to be a morning person. i am going to go to bed EARLY. like 9pm. and then, i am going to wake up at 5am. mind you... i am not CONVERTING to morning person-hood.... just going to give it a try... and at the very least, ENJOY these amazing spring desert mornings. drink them in! maybe i will feel happier... more alive... maybe it will inspire me in new ways! you never know!
as for today...
i am leaving for alabama! i have to show you the cute 'she' inspiration book we will be making...
the ScrapETC. event is all about inspriation... and i think by now, it's clear that i am so totally inspired by the 'she' concept... so i will be talking about that... and how to start a she album and stuff like that... (this little quote book is made from a 'retro' frame kit... it's all-inclusive!)
the other class i am teaching is about the importance of PLAYing! maybe you remember all the playing cards that me and a bunch of my team and friends created for CHA summer/memory trends displays... to show the intense side of some of the products... well, i made a little book out of some of mine...and i LOVE it! the messages on these little babies are so inspring and they are really fun to look at! so we'll be starting a PLAY book, and giving some challenges about conveying MESSAGES through your art... what is it that you WANT to say!.... say it! be heard!
so cute. i love it.
sooo
i think it's going to be an awesome weekend!
i am excited to play with all of you who will be there! so many of you have emailed me and i am exicted to meet you in person. Monique is killing herself off to create an amazing inspiring and motivating weekend! let's make sure we all give her lots of LOVE... i know that my demands alone are enough to put her OVER THE EDGE! (i am very demanding, huh monique!) LOL.....
so, i am going to exercise, pack and if the stars line up, get a pedicure before we leave!
see... if i were a morning person, this would all be done!
so nanci, and franni... you are my inspiration!

I don't know how you do the whole "night" thing. Don't you end up turning into a morning person because you've been up all night...you just run into the morning. I've wondered if all you "night time" scrappers are women or MACHINES lol :o)

Those projects are too cute. Wish I could be there!

I'm so NOT a morning person by nature, but occasionally (usually in the summer), I do just what you're doing...I try to be a morning person just for a little while, just to see what it's like to enjoy those early hours of the day when everything is quiet and calm. I always LOVE it when I do it, but eventually my night-owl self takes over again. But it's nice while it lasts!

Oh MY. I cannot wait to do these projects!!! See you in Bama! :)
Posted by: Raven | April 20, 2006 at 09:42 AM
i am totally with you being a night person. the night time after the kids are in bed is the only time i have for scrapbooking. i get tired about 9, but then get a second wind and am good to go. i have to get up in the am with the kiddos so i can't stay up to late. i know i would enjoy my day so much more if i would just get up about 1/2 hour before they do. but, i just can't drag myself out of the bed in the am. maybe i will try it with you next week. it will be a little extra motivation knowing you're doing it too.

are you ever going to be in the nashville area teaching these awesome classes? i feel the need to reach into my screen and pick these albums up and TOUCH them!!! :)

Total night owl here too - waking up at 5 am is just not for me. Total grump when I wake up at 7:30 for work!
These albums are super-cute...makes me so excited for Creative Escape! Have a nice trip. :)

ARGH I wish I could be there for that class! I took photos of the cards from summer CHA and have them hanging on my scraproom wall for inspiration! I'd even volunteer to make some for you! Have fun...

SOOOO CUTE!!! Heidi, if its one thing I have learned, you can't pretend to be a morning person! I'm SO not a morning person and as much as I have tried, its just not going to happen -- enjoy the sunsets rather than the sunrises, you will be just as happy! Can't wait for the Creative Escape! You inspire me!

Hi Heidi---We are neighbors...I live in W Phx. *I* am your quintessential *morning Person*...and let me tell you....here are the benefits of being a night person..
a-you don't turn into a pumpkin when you are scrapping after 10PM...
b-you don't have the dilemma of whether to walk, drink coffee at the computer or scrap because you can only pick one and then the kids will be waking up...
c-you don't feel guilty scrapping at 7 am because you *should be cleaning the kitchen*
so I guess you could look on the bright side :D....
I'm SOOOOO hoping that you will make the *SHE* album an online class...pretty pretty please....
Ta know ya is ta love ya Heid----(even though you don't know ME!

Oh yes, them wonderfully happy morning people, ugh!! LOL I'm not a morning person at all. I'd rather be up till 3 a.m. and sleep till 7. Makes life much easier.
Love that Play book. Very cool!!

Heidi...any way you can take pics of the inside of the PLAY book for those that have never seen the PLAY cards? Also, will you be teaching this book anywhere else? If so where and when? Would love to take it!

good Luck with the morning thing ... I have tried and tried and I've given up.. I am not a morning person.. I can stay up till 3am, no problem.. waking up at 5 am just kills me.. I swear we are made that way.. night owls or early birds.. I can totally relate though, I would love to wake up before anyone else, sit and have a cup of coffee in peace..aaahhhhhhh it sounds so relaxing.:D

Heidi
I AM a morning person - been up since 5:15 today but i get my quiet time before the kiddos get up. right now i have our 8.5 wk puppy sleeping on my lap - great life! i do go to bed at 9pm thoug to get my 8 hrs :) i love getting up early but that is me. i had to learn it was the only way for me to not be working all my children's awake time.
good luck on your trial - oh and sunrises are awesome!!!

Heidi,
The one bad thing about being a morning person (or having to get up at 4:30 for work) is that nothing is open - well not in Brisbane, Australia anyway. I get in the city at 6:30 and have an hour to kill before work. The window shopping is like torture, I just want to go inside.
This is my first time posting a comment. I really love reading your blog, it's on my "blogs to read everyday list". You're a great inspiration and I must tell you my fave scrapping tool is "Love your handwriting".

Ok, so who else is just physically sick that they do not get to be in Alabama to make these crazy cool projects?!?!?!
Ugh! It almost made me sick looking at them...
Heidi, girl, I'm not sure where your creative genius comes from but go with it girl...
ALl I can say is WOW! And since I have never attended a class, CK event or anything of that, you lucky brats attending make me green with envy.
Have so much fun girls!
