so tuesday morning... pretty normal... i am working on the holiday recovery thing...
and i have one of those 'pregnancy-psycosis' moments...
you know,
the ones that reality starts to set in, and you start to realize that life is about to change drastically... especially for things like, say, going to disneyland. i got to realizing that none of my kids are in strollers, diapers, sippy cups or need naps mid-day!!!! and that is all about to END! i couldn't let the opportunity pass by...
so i convince eric that i'm not getting any smaller, and our kids are at the perfect age to go and have FUN at disneyland... and why not just jump in the car and head over for 2 days! it's a 6 hour drive... so we told the kids about 2pm and were on the road about 5pm. (i had secretly wanted to do this for about a week, but just didn't think that timing and responsiblitites would allow... )
it had been a couple of years, and we had never done the calif. adventure park... so we were so excited! we had the best time! it was so awesome. we have never gone to calif. just specifically to do disney... it was so fun to stay right by the park, spend all day there for 2 days... and not miss anything. quincy is 42" so she really got to go on most everything (they let little ones that size on SPACE MOUNTAIN! and the TOWER OF TERROR).. there were only a few things that she couldn't do... and surprisingly enough, my preg. body did pretty well! the main issue was that i was SO THIRSTY... which led to LOTS of bathroom stops. i know where every bathroom is... and i must say, i am so impressed with how clean and nice they ALL are! (lol)
my boys were pretty fixated on the fast and furious rides... and waiting in lines is pretty annoying! but, wow.... that is an amazing place...
i had to include this photo of us on splash mountain! you know, lots of those rides have a place somewhere in the middle of the ride that captures you 'enjoying' the ride the most...
when we saw this one, we had to LAUGH! it's histerical! i think i really was as freaked out as i look... and so was quincy...
notice there is no one sitting in the front? well, that is actually where colton was sitting, he was ducking to prevent from getting wet! so funny!
i decided not to take my big SLR camera... i figured i'd be doing good to haul myself around the park. so i bought a disposable camera. i can't wait to see the caliber of photos i got! i was thinking, it might be an interesting experiment to shoot with a regular film camera once in awhile... just so you really have to work at getting good photos! so i am going to have to get them developed tomorrow. and i can't print any out on my R1800!
well,
it's midnight.
i am so so tired.
here's wishing eric all the best... much love and luck coming at him from down here as he runs the marathon in SLC!
wish we could all be there to cheer you on!
we love you.

that splash mountain pic is killer! I think everyone's pictures look like that. glad you had fun!

We need to take one of those spontaneous trips to Disney! My husband's been trying to get us to go for six or seven years. How great that you just hopped in the car and got outta town!

LOL! I'm totally cracking up at the ride picture. I love how it captured the feelings of the moment...so fun! I think it's wonderful to just head out for a last minute trip like this. I'm glad you got the chance to do it since it will be a long while till you get to go again. http://jolenegeorge.blogspot.com/

you go girl! what a very pleasant surprise for the swapp family. wonderful photos. i have to say the second is the prize. what awesome facial expressions. goodluck to eric on his marathon. hope he surpasses his goal. how about 2.5 hours. i figure with the altitude and no humidity. he can do it. LOL! not at him though!

That is funny because when I was pregnant I so wanted to go to Disneyland but we never did. I also wanted to go down a waterslide while I was pregnant but never did that either.

I love last minute trips to Disney. We have headed to Disney here in Florida a couple of times. It's always so much fun!!! We don't do that now b/c Tanner is still in diapers, with a sippy cup and needs a nap!

Heidi- how lucky you are to be able to go to that fantastic place in just 6 hours. We went with my husbands family last Sept ( 15 of us) and had a blast- didnt quite take 6 hours fron Australia!!!!. Would love to see your LO of this last trip!!!!- to give me inspiration.

Heidi, I'm primarily digital, but sometimes just want to grab a disposable camera and have fun with the family (especially at the beach, where I don't want to watch my bag for theft instead of playing in the water). I use www.yorkphoto.com to develop my film because they're quick, cheap, good, and you can get a CD with digital images from the film for next to nothing. My favorite part, though, is that I just shove an envelope full of disposable camera (shipping prepaid) into the outgoing mail (actually, it won't fit in my outgoing, so I shove the envelope in my in box with a huge note that says "Outgoing Mail", and then it just magically disappears and reappears a few days later as film and CD. Who wouldn't love that? 4 x 6 prints, plus the ability to immediately print out enlargements on my photo printer. Just thought you might like the link.

our family has a picture like that - I look like someone is shiving a live snake in my face, I'm so scared. And I was in front, spent the rest of the day in damp khakis. Oh, the joy of it!
Hos cool to be able to make a sneak vacation happen...to go spur of the moment like that. Lucky you alls.

I am so impressed that you went on Splash Mountain at all!! Something about flume rides scares the scrap out of me!
And that picture is so cute! Those pictures always look awful of me because I'm either covering my face or hiding with my head in my lap *eyeroll* I'm such a wimp!
