still me

edmonton all day!

Yesterday turned out so FUN … everything went totally smooth! I only had one little glitch… I was setting everything up and as I was looking on my hard drive for my presentation, I realized that I had moved it to my external hard drive last week… and of course, I didn’t bring it with me!?@&*#*&^@ ack!  So, luckily my dear, sweet, husband was able to locate the file and transfer it to me over the internet- (LOVE the internet!! Whatever did we do without it!?!?!) THANKS ERIC!!!   I loved meeting the awesome group of women that attended! That is my FAVORITE part….  I just wanted to THANK all of you that came! Many of you from great distances… everyone got one of these CUTE ‘house of 3’ silver bags with their kits in them… they are FABULOUS!

extra fabric?

i have all this extra fabric that i got from the fabric market in a huge bin... and i was moving stuff around, and there was an off cut that was sitting on the top... and i thought, hmmmm what can i make with this!? i love the colors... matches my 'fresh and free' collection perfectly!
so i just quickly made a fabric envelope... i always have my sewing machine set up in my studio... i even used my little heidi swapp iron!! (remember that cute thing)... i found that in the bottom of a bin as well...
i noticed that Heather Bailey is just clearing out some of her fabulous fabrics here...  don't you think these would be SO perfect to have on hand for little gifts? it would be so cute to have them just the size of a gift card!!.... graduates? new brides? i think i will sit for one evening and make a bunch! i am not a fancy seamstress by ANY stretch of the imagination... if you watched my 'quick card' video, i used that same basic concept... and just sewed the sides used my pinking shears to trim off the edges...
you'll need some big Heidi Swapp florals...  and this pink paper, with the big frame on it, and the die cut birdie is perfect for making a little card to go inside!!

class of 2009

Crazy day today… and although I got up and at ‘em early… I don’t feel like I have accomplished as much as I would have liked. Although, I think I am just comparing that to my yesterday which I just CRANKED and it felt great. Today was more like flitting from one project and demand to another-mostly focused on things that other people needed me to do, and not what I deemed necessary! We did get the whole house cleaned! That is awesome…my bags are packed for Edmonton…all checklists checked! Went to Costco…can I just tell you how much I love going to Costco knowing that I can come back next week!?
I think it’s fun to ‘people watch’ at Costco. You can tell a lot about people by what they have in their carts! You can tell a lot about their ‘time and season’ of life. Some are full of diapers, formula, milk and eggs… others had beach towels, sprinkler toys and yard lighting.  Still others, had chips, plastic cups, flats of soda and a personalized graduation cake.  We are still in the diaper category: goldfish crackers, granola bars, cereal, mickey mouse chicken nuggets…and $13 swim trunks for boys.  As I was contemplating my ‘time and season’…and looking around at a couple of these mom’s that were clearly dealing with Graduations…I caught myself wondering what was in store for us between now and then..

We have been working on graduation stuff at House of 3… this stuff is so cute. Rhonna has put together some graduation kits that have announcements, invitations, thank you cards, address labels and wrappers. She did this really cool, simple announcement for someone she knows… I love the look of this.  And Janet’s nephew is graduating, and she did some really cool stuff for him. i especially love this idea of using the 'wrappers' to wrap around water bottles, soda and CANDY! could be chocolate bars... or even that theater size candy... Rhonna posted these on her blog todaY!

if you aren't into the digi thing... you can totally just print out the PDF versions of these files, and write or stamp the graduates name on to personalize! think quick and easy!  These would be great favors for showers, parties, thank you gifts and just simple 'thinking of you' gifts... everyone loves chocolate! wink!

creating...

Slowly, my studio is getting pieced back together.. there are still a bunch of boxes that I have only glanced through and pulled out the most necessary contents… but there is still SO much sorting, organizing and setting up left to do! it’s a process; a creative process. Despite the crazy, disorganized jumble it seems to be, it’s so great to be back in my space. I have tons of room for what I need, and I love my 42” tall island, and my wall-sized dry erase calendar from Pottery Barn, and all my magnet boards and shelves. i have been on a creative kick, and it’s feels so good.. just thought I’d share a few of the items… I am just trying to get myself thinking and creating again…getting reacquainted with some of the stuff I had left behind. My focus has been on Quincy as she has turned 8, and we got some great photos of her baptism… I want her to remember that special day always. ( and she SOO appreciates the attention!) smile. So I made her this little card.

I think that I mentioned that I love this line from MM. SO CUTE!! I was totally remembering the old shadow box layouts that I used to create, and I used this fabulous frame hambly overlay… love the yellow. And I just used some cardboard to make the shadow box. Quincy LOVES this photo of both Eric and I kissing her… so I wanted to make her a special keepsake card. She keeps everything I make her… so cute.

This layout is just one that I had on hand because I had created it when I was demo-ing the invisibles while I was in Houston:

I used the Heart Mega-Mask and positioned it over the borders invisible sheet… inked the inside of the heart. Then I used the chipboard invisible frames, inked that to match… and I LOVE the little polka-dot letter stickers… inked those as well!  I used my favorite letter stamps to stamp “love”… can you see the ‘just chillin’ MM paper, and the hambly frame overlay on this page as well… I am not sure who makes that yellow gingham paper.. but I LOVE it! (so into yellow right now).  They eyelet paper is actually a notecard from the Martha Stewart line.

Here is Quincy’s fav photo… (it was her idea!!) so cute.. I used papers from the Summer Sun collection and the Fresh and Free… that big frame is a huge die cut… and I think it rocks. In this case, I inked it and added some stamping to it to give it a little more texture…

I missed my ‘crackle’ stamp while I was away! You can find the ‘she’ cards here, and the tab in the upper right corner is from here. and I just had to add this and the border from this paper....

Just simple ones, but it felt great to scrapbook!

paintballing.

I have to hand it to Eric.. not only did he take this ‘motley crew’ paint balling to celebrate Cory’s birthday (ok, only 5 weeks late)… but he made sure that he got some photos so that I could scrapbook the whole thing! And I think he got some great shots…
So, rewind back to April 14th… Cory turned 10 years old. We had only been back a couple of weeks, and I was in TOTAL survival mode, and not functioning at my full capacity.. in fact, it might have been at like 20%!! I just didn’t have the energy to put together a party… so Cory has been P A T I E N T L Y waiting for a party!  We found a flyer for a paint ball place, and thought that would be fun. there just kept being one thing after another and all the sudden it was Quincy’s b-day… and of course, I was more ‘on track’, so she got a party right on her b-day… well, as you can imagine…I knew that we had to get the paintball party underway!

Eric had to be on board for this one, and Saturday was the day! This place is called ‘the church’ and it’s 3 huge fields that have different levels of ‘play’… these boys had a blast!! They played for about 3 hours and all had a few welts to show for it. (eric even got photos of the welts!) chuckle… 

Happy birthday CORY! (again) and welcome SUMMER!

I am sharing this photo just cause it’s SUCH a cutie photo…Connor is just as sugar sweet as he looks in photos… hmmm he is just SO sweet… even if he has extreme sport tendencies!

I am sharing this photo not ONLY cause this boy is ALSO as sweet as he is cute… but LIZ gave him this totally cool t-shirt that she created on the YUDU!!! (my current favorite toy for sure!!)

Liz has been buying cheap white Hanes t-shirts … dying them and then screen printing them… she has posted a whole bunch of them on her etsy shop.  Cory LOVES this shirt… most of the shirts are for little guys like Connor and Dax’s size (Dax is Liz’s little guy). Ok… just had to share…
