This Sunday evening finds me in the emergency room up at Primary Children’s Hospital (again)! This time, we are just stitching up a couple gashes in Connor’s mouth! We have to hang out here, until it’s been 3 hours since he ate or drank so they can sedate him for the procedure…it’s so fuN! and of course, I am happy that it’s not worse. He fell while climbing on the outside of the railing of the stairs. Dare devil! (and a naughty one, he knows better)
Today we took some time to take some family photos—they are just quick and fun ones… the only time I feel like the kids all look clean and presentable is just after church, so today, we pulled the trigger. They are fun kids. life is never dull… that’s for sure.
Connor keeps right up with Capri, and I just can’t imagine life without the 2 of them…he is about the most photogenic kid ever! Glad I got a few today before the fall tonight!
Cory is such a jokester- his easy going personality and laid back style is a delight, and welcome part of the family dynamics! Handsome kid, growing like crazy- I feel like he needs new shoes every time I turn around!
Quincy is my most willing participant in the photo-shooting. Her smiles are always picture-perfect! She has gown up so much, and I keep feeling like she should be the one going into 7th grade instead of Colton (but really she is going into 4th)
Colton is almost a teenager…not sure if I am ready for that.. but ‘ready or not’… he is so excited to start up middle school, and will do anything to earn a buck! In fact, this photo below COST ME $1!!
Capri had her 4th bday yesterday- and it’s freaky for me to think back to the day she was born. I think every mom does that on the birthdays of their children. We were SO happy to have her. Everyone just fell instantly in love with her, and those sentiments have only grown over the last 4 years. She is a delight.

If u are coming to creative escape- you probably already heard that this year's autograph book- "greetings from creative escape" has just been posted! If u have been to CE before, you know how fun it is to get photos and sigs of all the teachers, new fabulous friends, your class volunteers and all the people that make your Creative Escape unforgettable... This year's book is inspired by vintage postcards- turned out so cute thanks to the digital stylings on ms. Rhonna Farrer! The colors and vibe tie right into the new look and feel of 2010 creative escape...gorgeous!
You can really use this book for any part of your trip. I thought it would be so cute to print the photos and adhere them to the backs of the postcards after the event! So you might want to print extra pages!
The kit you will download has a total of 6 PDF pages. They are sized to create a 5x7 book. I have written some instructions and included them in the downloadable kit. Don't leave it to the last minute to make this book! ( like you know I would!!) I am in the process of getting a little video ready...so get it all printed out and you will be ready for the video! Download it here.

ok, so i had an awesome day! got so much done- i got all my 'house work' done by about 3pm, so i got to finish up these pages... you will notice that the three of them have some things in common! but i had so much fun w/ some of the elements, that i just kept playing! .... SO, as i mentioned-- i have been playing with the newest "little black dress" kit, and it is fantastic! here is a look at the contents:
i went a little crazy on these pages... they are all full of stuff!
this is quincy with one of her cute little friends- they are so cute! the kit had these awesome flash cards- so i cut it up and made a fun little banner- i also added some House of 3 banner printable (for the ENJOY- and you will see them in a couple more places... LOVE this!) and the "vacation"...
so i did lots of layering of banners on all the pages... i feel addicted! i sewed tons of them together using my sewing machine! i made 'circle' banners by punching out circles w/ my 1/2" punch... then i cut a bunch of words out of the different types of book paper in the kit (see below) and made a word banner. and even used the October Afternoon stickers (the red ones) to make a little banner as well! i LOVEd the epoxy stickers from the Melody Ross collection- i used foam dots to pop them up. cute cute.
another addiction is the pleated paper ruffles- on this one below i used some fun music paper that was included in the kit- this kit also had tons of fun, unique buttons
you can see on this page below... again i used the circles banner- this time on the top of the photo- and the paper ruffle... below, and i layered some red lacy stuff on top... you can see another "love" sticker banner (you'll see tips below)... and i LOVE the pennants made from the map paper- i just attached these w/ mini-foam-dots.
the "wish" is from another of the flash cards- and the "one of a kind" flag is actually just the name of the October Afternoon paper- but i thought that the font was so cute, i made it a little flag! i sewed the "sweet" out of the Prima stickers- i did have so much fun playing with this page..
and the last one, i actually used a couple papers from the June kit- i LOVE this green polk-a-dot paper! THIS month's kit came with this amazing green houndstooth tissue paper- so i tore it into strips and sewed it into a rosette! dang cute... and so easy!
i think that the 'street map' paper is my favorite part of the whole kit. great colors! (here i used it behind the photo)... these guys find cool stuff- it's inspiring! see the little "pennies" coin roll flags, and the cute mini card. i went crazy w/ the little hearts!
this is a photo that i snapped at cute Paige's first b-day... see if you spot all off the little obsessions: the paper ruffle, circle banner, and one other...
the new killer dot technique!
ok, so this kit comes with this freaky purple dot stuff- i am not sure what you'd call it- it seems foil-ish- anyway- it works SO amazing to place it down on your paper, and then simply swipe the distress ink applicator sponge over it... you can even blend colors- i seriously had so much fun playing with this stuff... you have to go back and look at the up closes so you can see how i put it in the backgrounds, and even on some of the embellishments and photo mats. love it!!
so a couple other fun tips... if you grab the House of 3 printable banners... (so so cute) it's fun to stick them in your vintage typewriter and add messages of your choice! if you are janet, you have like 4 typewriters to choose from! i do love mine!
ok, and my last tip of the day... if you want to make one of these letter sticker banners - here is the way to do it- stick them on your jeans to get a little lint to make them less sticky- then put them 1/2 on a scrap of paper in the order you want them to be on the banner.
then run it right through your machine...

As always, feels good to have a show behind me- even if SO fast approaching is my next big thing: Creative Escape! It will be here before I know it! I have been in ‘recovery’ mode since I got home- getting things pulled back together (all the stuff I neglected in preparation for the show)… tonight was a bit of an indulgence- I took the time to PLAY!
My friends at “Little Black Dress” kit club had sent me their July and August kit, and I must say, both were just so full of YUMMY fuN! I have had it all fanned out on my side counter for the last week and ½, just looking at it’s many different elements and waiting until I could get some time to – p l a y! ….and to just add to my indulgence… I played around without any photos! Now, this is really a creativity exercise for me… usually I always start every project with a photo, and/or story that I want to tell… but sometimes, even that is too limiting when I just want to play. I think that thing I love so much about getting a kit in the mail, is that it pushes you out of your comfort zone- maybe if you always tend to reach for the same colors, or use the same types of embellishments- this is a great way to rely on someone else to bring unqiue things, and colors together for you to just run with it! I have to hand it to these girls at “Little Black Dress”… they do a great job- tons of unique little things, great color combos and very thoughtful clever items that fill each kit.
SO- I am not ready to show the full complete pages- but here are some little peeks.
I have some fun little ‘discoveries’ I’ll be sharing next week (will show you how i got those cool dots on the background!)… but I need to snap some photos that will work on these pages. You can grab a kit HERE and ‘play’ along with me! check out ALL the amazing little details that come in this kit… totally rocks.
