usually i get chores done on monday- but it's more of a creative day... although i am doing laundry...
After the kids went to school this morning, I was doing the usual- picking up, and gathering dirty clothes etc, and I went into Quincy’s room and found this:
I can’t believe she didn’t tell me she did this… I am sure she figured I’d get mad for her using my Paper Source letterpress word cards and fabric for making flowers…. i think that it’s SO CUTE! She is so cute. I was so touched by her creativity, and desire to have a little Christmas spririt in her room… I had some little teary eyes…she is really growing up, and I think I sorta still treat her like a baby. She wrapped presents she got for the littles, and put them under her tree. i’m proud of her. She has SO much zest for life, and happy, enthusiasm about everything…
I have been playing with my Yudu this morning… I have been wanting to make NEW STOCKINGS to hang this year… the ones I made in China are pretty shoddy workmanship on my part, so they are falling apart… time for new ones! I bought fabric in pinks, reds and greens of solid cotton poplin, with the idea of screen printing on them. It’s quite the process.. I am making screens now- but I have done a little experimenting. I will share the outcome, but here are a couple sneek peeks…
I created my design and tested it by printing white paint onto this pre-made red felt stocking that I got from JoAnn’s (it was 50% off $1.99). Then I hot glued on some Parisian Anthology ruffles- these started out white, and I glimmer misted them Apple, and Black Cherry. Then I glued on some glittery leaves and berries as well as a couple jingle bells.
I then got brave and tried out the FLOCKING for Yudu- you print with a special adhesive that goes through your screen just like the ink does- and then you put a sheet of flocking down, and iron it for 3-5 minutes… and pull it off… it’s GORGEOUS!! Next up: glittering and FOIL!! (oooh, ahhh) I’ll be showing the process in Wednesday nights’ webshow… along with a little more ‘Holiday Magic’… This wed will be the last webshow of 2010—so plan on joining us!
OK… today’s Christmas ideas: jewels and sparkly pens!!
… look at this cute ring. I love big rings, and love bows.
Forever 21 also have TONS of HUGE amazing, cool rings for cheap. Everyone loves them!! (this one is like $5.80)
i LOVE this bracelet... and it's only $5.80
so these are totally on MY list... i played with them a couple weeks ago when i went and got Copic Certified... that's right... i am authorized to use these pens... now i just need some! these Glitter pens are SO amazing. they sparkle like you wouldn't believe- and you can use them to add detailed sparkle... this set includes my favorite colors... and that CLEAR is to die for! love love them... you can pick these up at Blue Moon Scrapbooking
and this is the set that i want... i noticed they are on sale at the moment... i need to do some saving for these...these are the "ciao" and have the brush tips... the idea is that you want colors that will blend together... so this set really appeals to me- good range of colors, but a variety of each color- so you can really create depth by blending... these are amazing. you only buy a pen once, and then you buy refill color. so they are truly a lifetime investment. ...
and i forgot to mention... the 40% off sale at "city straps" is only on through friday- the straps are usually about $30... so 40% off is an amazing deal ($18.00 on sale!!!). .this is the one i have on my camera right now...
but this is the one i want... it's new:
simply type in "HAPPYHOLIDAYS' to get the discount!

This weekend has been a whirlwind… in the very best of ways! My cute sister and her family came into town, and are staying with us for a few days so as you can imagine, it’s just a full-time party! The kids just love being together, and that makes me so happy!
Saturday was crazy with 2 dance performances for Quincy and 2 hockey games between the boys… throw in a Costco trip and you have a super Saturday! The Dancers were darling in their little Santa helper dresses... they performed 4 different high-energy numbers... they have several performances through the month. Quincy LOVES it so much.
Today my brother and sister-in-law blessed their sweet baby girl…she is so precious! I am so thankful to live close by so we can be a part of these kinds of events.
My Aunt KJ dropped by Fri, and we were talking about décor and planning the stockings that I am working on (planning on using my YUDU and all the new flocking, glitter and foil)… and she mentioned a vintage Santa Countdown… immediately, I knew that I needed to swing into action, and these would be a fun thing to give to neighbors with young kids… whether you give this already mounted on a piece of chipboard w/ a ribbon hanger, or just a little DIY kit… include a bag full of cottonballs!
So, I created this fun Mr. Claus and the idea is that you adhere a cottonball each day – onto his beard (follow the numbers to countdown). The Printable is 8 1/2x11 … and the kit includes one that has the numbers, and one without the numbers- so it would be fun to just use as a little activity/craft- where the kids can fill Santa’s whole beard w/ cotton! Capri LOVED gluing the cottonballs in place, and hanging it up. She and Quincy both just love to create little masterpieces… I think that it would also make a really cute card- how fun to size it down as a card, and include mini pom-poms. You can download the Santa Countdown HERE at www.Houseof3.com ….it’s already the 6th, so get it quick!
Can you believe the first week of Dec is almost over…I am happy to say, that I made this year different for me. I can’t even explain how much more enjoyable it is this year. –usually, I put off buying gifts, and planning out schedules etc. – I push it all until the last possible minute! I knew I couldn’t do it again like that… so I started earlier. Took time and made it a priority… I love all the décor, and and SO excited that I almost have all the gifts purchased! i feel like there is a totally different peace, and gratitude about the season, and just being a little more ‘committed’ to Christmas, has allowed me to really concentrate on the REASON for the holiday- while I have had fun ‘trimming the trees’ and buying gifts… I feel like everything around me points to the Savior. I feel Him in the joy and the laughter…in the beauty and the magic…the family, the warmth and most of all… in the music. It’s really is the most WONDERFUL time of the year. I’m thankful for my own little attitude adjustment—
I was delighted to get an early Christmas present in the mail this week… thank you Maggie… they turned out SO beautiful! Now I have to choose which ones to print! it came in this GORGEOUS cutom CD case... and the photos are just edited to perfection. i think the one she chose for the front is my favorite...
And I still have a few gifts I need to find. I like it when blogs and magazines share good gift ideas… so, for the next few days, I am going to share some of my good gift ideas:
If you know someone that has an SLR camera she likes to lug around to everything… chances are she would LOVE a camera strap cover. I LOVE having these on my camera straps…so much more comfy! City Straps is offering their stock on hand at 40% off… click HERE to see all the different colors (they are SO cute) and type in “HAPPYHOLIDAYS” to get the deal.
Have you seen these?
I got these, this is my first pair of TOMS… and I LOVE love them. They are SO comfortable, and of course, don’t you love that for every pair of shoes they sell, they donate a pair to people in need. They do come in about a million colors! Quincy really wants a pair of these sparkly ones… but I can’t find any in her size.
and i LOVE these so much... they are so cute on littles:
tights w/ shoes... there are so many different kinds out there...
ok, more fun ideas tomorrow! xoxo

I love the webshows that all 3 of us (janet, rhonna and myself) all contribute our own viewpoint…I am continually so inspired by them, and it’s FUN to learn from each other.
it was so much fun to have Rhonna over tonight! she is so much fun to have around!
The show tonight was all about our Parisian Anthology line that we designed for Pink Paislee… and emphasized fun and unique things you can do with the different pieces… we were playing with THIS kit.
We talked about the NEW cardboard alphabets, and how awesome they are when you use the Tattered Angels glaze.
We mentioned a couple other things you can do with the Glaze: colorizing the Resist papers and chandelier crystals, jewels and the flair. The stuff is awesome.
We demoed some different ways to colorize the papers… using Distress inks, Glimmer Mist, and Glimmer Glam and glaze… when you add color to the resist papers… they look amazing as you create CONES… those cones can either be used to hold goodies or ornaments if you turn them upside down… or you can create amazing table top mini-trees…limitless possibilities! Rhonna demoed decorating trees with ruffles, doilies, jewels and topped with jewels, flags and flowers…
and i was in LOVE with what Janet did... printing House of 3 backgrounds on the backside of the resist papers... and creating envelopes. clever!
Rhonna and I discovered that we were BOTH inspired by Target’s holiday décor in creating paper ornaments…we both created them our own way, and it was fun to see each other’s process.
Lastly, I showed how to create my little 3D trees… they are quick and easy, but you need hot glue!
Enjoy this seasons’ Creative Process…

well, the halls are ALMOST all decked... i have a good start. my next step involves the YUDU... and a trip to IKEA, so for today- it's decked! i need to have some webshow focus! yes... Rhonna is coming tonight, and she will be showing you some of her own DIY Christmas Magic... i can't wait to see! so don't miss it... and some of you have already found tonight's freebie... SO cute! don't miss tonight! 8pm here in SLC, UT. you have to figure out what time that is for you (if you can't watch live, it will be recorded and archived HERE)
i am just printing this photo collage thing out for a project for tonight's show...
i stayed up a little too late last night... even the elves fell asleep! but i had myself a jolly good time! Cory woke up and said "don't you think this is just a little overboard, mom?" and followed that up with "i just don't think this is necessary..." (gasp) i then referenced the movie ELF and sited that as a possible 'overboard'. not MY little 'wintery wonderland'. i only bought one new thing(s)... the mini-mini-christmas balls that are hanging on my pink trees.... everything else is newly made, or revamped:
1. painted an ikea frame that GRINCH green. i LOVE that pop of green. that is a new color in my mix this year.
2. (top left image) i took this old berry garland, that i haven't used in like 10 years, and fashioned it inot a wreath and hung it from a large mirror over the piano and hung some glitter snowflakes that i used last year to adorn packages (and they were very underappreciated by my kids!)
3. wired the pink trees to the bannister... i did this in our home in china, but i think it works well here too! as i mentioned, i did put new mini-ornaments on them: pink, green, red. I would love to have light on them, but can't find pink strands of lights...(anyone seen any?)
4. had an old (OLD) wreath that i hung like 10 years ago, and since just didn't like the stuff that was all attached to it (ie: toll painted santa in the shape of a moon, and big plaid gold and red bow- very dusty). i shed off everything but the lights and the berries, and added the "glittery celebrate" that i got in the dollar bin at Michaels last year.
5. just found those disco-trees (mirror trees) they wer in a box marked easter. was a good find!
6. i am inspired by the "carols" that Rhonna created for the House of 3 show tonight... so i created a "Joy to the World banner" Eric hasn't seen this yet- he might hate it. i say... need more banners. kinda wish i had a toy plane to rig up so it looked like the plane was flying the Joy to the World banner, like they do over the beach. what about an XL paper-airplane? that could be cool....
7. all the christmas balls that the tops are broken (the plastic cheapy ones) i put in glass jars. they look so pretty!
8. made a totally cute paper-chain with Bazzill Cardstock that i painted Chandelier glam all over... turned out SO cute! went through a LOT of tiny attacher staples at 3 am!
9. but my FAVORITE of all... is the paper ornaments... last night i went to target at like 10pm to get the said mini-ornaments, and ornament hanger wire-things... and was looking up at the decorations that are hanging from the celings... and just couldn't get them out of my mind... so i started making my own out of Bazzill paper strips that were left over from the afore-mentioned paper chain...
these were just SUPER fun to make... i'll show how tonight during the webshow...SO cute w/ the parisian paper... mixed with some holiday cheer! i had my little elves paint the chandelier crystals with Tattered Angels Glaze so they were all kinds of colors... again...lots of tiny attacher staples!
tonight i'll be sharing MORE uses for Tattered Angels GLAM and Glaze... you will LOVE!
if you follow me on twitter or are a friend of mine on FACEBOOK... you know how much meal-planning stresses me OUT! seriously... i will have you know that i went to the store yesterday and bought stuff to make 5 meals: chicken noodle soup, chicken brocolli casserol, fajitas, turkey chili, sloppy joes -gasp... 6 meals (if you can count manwitch, which i do!)... anyway... i am excited and happy to ANNOUNCE that my favorite recipie, cookbook lady Elizabeth Banks has just released her SECOND cookbook! a bunch of you bought her first cookbook when i featured it here on my blog about 2 years ago... anyway, just in time for Christmas, her 2nd cookbook is ready, and she has been taunting me with delicious meal ideas and new recipies from her new book, so i can't wait to get mine... this would be a great gift idea! Jim Hamilton is a Graphic Designer that i have worked with for years has worked on the layout and design, and Mark Mabry who is a photographer in Mesa, AZ did the photography (also the REFLECTIONS on Christ books... another great idea for a Christmas gift-amazing music to that as well...)
OK>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>see you tonight!
