128 days, 11 hours and 58 minutes from RIGHT NOW (as I am typing this) kicks off the 5th annual Creative Escape Event!
In ‘heidi time’ that seems like FOREVER away, but in reality, it will be here before we know it!
the last 5 years have been like a crazy roller coaster ride for me with: 2 babies 11 months apart, a move to China, couple more moves, new endeavors/partners/ideas and opportunities… (whew, you know what I am talking about), and in what seems like a time of perpetual change, there has been one unwavering constant: Creative Escape!
Every year has been equally AMAZING, and yet totally unique in it’s own very special way- I am so proud of each and every Creative Escape… each year has been packed with inspiring teachers, (last years' group) (click HERE To check out this year's teachers)
to the centerpieces at the closing mouth-watering-dessert-first dinner. Students have been wowed by the beautiful resort, with their fabulous staff and exquisite location…as well as the shockingly extensive on-site store!
Creative Escape has gone over and above providing each attendee with a full-color, full-size instruction guide for each and every class… not to mention all the little surprises and special gifts that make each person feel pampered, appreciated, and welcome! And I haven’t even mentioned the CE volunteers and Bazzill staff that make each and everyone feel right at home!
these are just the tip of the iceberg… because there are still bus tours, the brand new ‘bazzar’, buttons, ‘fun-shops’, swaps,- sign ups happening NOW!! and a whole new set of SECRETS!! Secrets that are SO EXCITING, and so much fun… that you will be SO sad if you miss OUT!
(he has something up his sleeve from Echo Park!)
NONE of ANY of the magic would be possilbe without the AMAZING BAZZILL STAFF: Carol, Frani, Lisa, Mona and Doug (the Boss)... or without ALL THE SPONSORS... who we appreciate SO much for believing in us! cause really, it's about educating, exposing and making them SHINE!
The theme that we have chosen is so appropriate: “Worth Remembering”… I love it, and I love the way that some of this year’s teachers have tied into this theme with their projects and messages. But we are also thinking OUT of the box. Classes this year involve fabric, wood, pop-ups and fold-outs, and TONS of techniques! (Check out the site here to see the AMAZING line up of teachers… we brought back a couple favorites!) I have rec’d a bunch of emails asking where I fit in… and of course, with this being the LAST Creative Escape, I had to mix it up a little. I have a project planned that you will LOVE, and I am getting big-time help from Provo Craft! (insert lifted eyebrows!) This project requires some special equipment, so the only way we could make it work is to make it happen during the day on Thurs… which made room for an extra class on Fri/Sat! the class offerings are HUGE… I think the count is up to 11 classes… everyone will take each and every one of 11 classes. Hello! It’s major.
And to top things off… or, I should say, to push me out of my comfort zone, I was asked by the executive staff to give the ‘Keynote’ address… whew. Talk about pressure!! I have literally been working on my presentation since January!! I have 4 seriously tough acts to follow, so of course- it’s got to be a little out-of-the-box! (or a lot)…let’s just say, that I think I have found a way to tie it all together, and wrap it with a pretty little bow! And I am SO excited to tell!
Anyway…ok, the whole point of me telling you all this- (well, in addition to convincing you to sign up and COME …) is to tell you about something that we are doing this year that is a little different-
Oh, and telling you about how you can WIN a spot for free!
In past years, we have had auctions and raised money for different charities that we love, but this year, we ran across something that really touched us, and we wanted to put the full support of CE behind it…
Stephen decided that he wanted to make a hand-made card for each and every troop in the US Military. We are talking over 180,000 cards. Read more about it HERE:
Donations are being accepted from anyone who would like to create handmade thank you cards on Stephen’s behalf. For every five cards sent to Bazzill, the maker will be entered into a drawing to win two FREE tickets to the last Creative Escape 2011 (travel and accommodations, not included). Cards must be received by July 1, 2011. Click here to download and fill out the entry form. Mail it along with the cards to:
Stephen’s Thank You Card Project/Bazzill Basics Paper
7001 W. Erie St., Ste. 2, Chandler, AZ 85226
Other prizes include:
A subscription to Scrapbooking & Beyond magazine, Paper Creations Magazine, or “Picture that sound” recording inserts for cards.
- A2 is the preferred card size. That is half of a piece of 8.5 x 11 cardstock (Bazzill, of course!) cut into a 4.25″ x 5.5″ strip and folded.
- It doesn’t have to be red, white and blue… it can be anything your heart desires as long as it is made with love!
- Do not use glitter! Be careful the card does not become too bulky.
- If you can send envelopes along with your cards, that would be appreciated. If not, Xpedx is going to be donating 20,000 envelopes to fill in the gaps.
- Yes, sign it. Imagine Stephen going back to sign 180,000 cards! We need to save his hand so he can play sports in his free time.
- Download the pdf entry form from the Creative Escape website, fill it in, and send one copy with every five cards. All the cards can be mailed together, but we will be using your paperwork to pull the name of the winner. You can fill it in once and make photocopies, if you’d like. For example, if you send 50 cards, include 10 entry forms.
- Send as many cards as you would like!
Ok friends… we really need your help! PLEASE join us! I know that you can make cards!! I know that you have serious mad-card-making-skills! And really- these need to be quite simple…(you can only do so much without glitter)…
GET 5 done… you get entered for every 5 you send in (send envelopes too!)
DOWNLOAD the entry form, and make it happen! This is an amazing cause, and a killer prize! (We’ll be making more cards at the event as well!) Stephen still needs somewhere in the neighborhood of 150,000 cards… uh-hum… it’s a dang-lot of cards. WILL YOU HELP ??!
Grab a girlfriend, or a sister, your mom, a friend, a sister-in-law, your neighbor, a co-worker, a fellow creative soul, and COME TO CE! You will be SO glad you came! It’s amazing and UN-forgettable! (play the mother’s day card if you have to! Wink!) like I said… 128 days! It will be here before you know it!
